News - Updated Sept 2010
> I have started my code from scratch again. There were too many changes I needed to make, and I was spending too much time updating old code.
New code started July 2009.
> COMPLETED SO FAR:
> Game starts with a better ‘screen mode’ check. If window mode is needed, it will allow extra space for the taskbar.
> Created a map with multiple layers (this seperates sprites, tiles and images)
> Created a camera that independantly follows the main character sprite.
> Added a test for sprite collision modes, tile positioning and test text (this helps me).
> Changed the graphics ‘Render method’ to support alpha images. This blends the edges of the graphics to the background (anti-aliasing).
> Added a ‘Smart’ Map Editor into the actual game, so while playing you can edit the tiles, edit walking height of each different tile, paste images & create levels.
> Optimised screen Rendering. This draws the screen display faster.
> Added an animated main character.
> All characters & weapons are now animated.
PlayBasic Game
This is a ‘Platform’ game I have been working on, using PlayBasic. It is a powerful Basic Language, which allows you to code games as well as applications.
This demo is an easy to play, side scrolling, 2D platform style game. The player uses weapons and items to complete the level.
I am still in the testing stages, but the game will grow over time, and I will update as often as I can.
Enjoy , Steve
